Investigation of Polymorphisms in Non-Coding Region of Human Mitochondrial DNA in 31 Iranian Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) Patients
The D-loop region is a hot spot for mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) alterations, containing two hypervariable segments, HVS-I and HVS-II. In order to identify polymorphic sites and potential genetic background accounting for Hypertrophic CardioMyopathy (HCM) disease, the complete non-coding region of mtDNA from 31 unrelated HCM patients and 45 normal controls were sequenced. The sequences were aligne...
متن کاملDIFFUSE CORONARY ARTERIAL ECTASIA WITH HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY
A 40 year old male, a known case of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, was admitted for catheterization. At catheterization and angiography, septum was hypertrophied to about 5cm and diffuse coronary artery aneurysm was revealed. We found no previous report of coronary artery aneurysm in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
متن کاملMicrosatellite marker analysis in the treatment and diagnosis of familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (FHCM) is characterized by an autosomal dominant transmission, left ventricular hypertrophy and myocardial disorganization. So far, 13 genetic loci and more than 130 mutations in ten different genes have been identified. Recent study suggested impaired force production associated with inefficient use of ATP as the main disease mechanism. We performed haploty...
متن کاملDilated cardiomyopathy in homozygous myosin-binding protein-C mutant mice
To elucidate the role of cardiac myosin-binding protein-C (MyBP-C) in myocardial structure and function, we have produced mice expressing altered forms of this sarcomere protein. The engineered mutations encode truncated forms of MyBP-C in which the cardiac myosin heavy chain-binding and titin-binding domain has been replaced with novel amino acid residues. Analogous heterozygous defects in hum...
